We spoke to Margarette Purvis, President & CEO of Food Bank NYC, about the challenge of keeping emergency food relief open when volunteers are unable to reach the food pantries. The Food Bank has remained open every single day, and has provided about 400,000 pounds of food throughout the city. However, there are still communities that are unreachable.

"The food bank on a regular day serves 1,000 charity in every borough and neighborhood across New york City...that is our regular operations... [The storm] has pretty much turned upside down a system that has worked really well for 30 years."-- Margarette Purvis, President & CEO of Food Bank for NYC
