Beer Sessions gets into the holiday spirit by breaking into some vintage beers, including beers from friend and late co-host, Ray Deter's collection. Joined by Tom Peters (Monk's Cafe), Mike Battaglia (Total Beverage Solutions), and Ed Berestecki (Mugs Ale House), Jimmy Carbone breaks into old school Thomas Hardy, Traquarhouse and George Gale beers. Later on the show, a friend from across the pond calls in; Jon Bexon, head brewer at Green King Brewers in Suffolk, England whose "Old Crafty Hen" won the 2010 Grande Monde Medal. The group talks vintaging techniques, blending and aging, and the criteria for a good session beer. This episode is sponsored by GreatBrewers.com.

It's been quite a week here in New York and New England expounds Erica on this week's Why We Cook but her survivalist mentality gives us insight to the plethora of uses of honey as one of the ultimate survivalist sundry. From antibacterial to embalming agent to humectant, honey gets many of its benefits from the fact that it doesn't spoil-- edible honey has even been found in ancient Egyptian tombs. But beware! Tune in to learn how Chinese exporters have been selling fake honey and to make sure you're getting the real deal. This episode is sponsored by Fairway Market.

Born in England, inspired to draw as a young boy by Salvador Dali’s surrealism, and the fantastical illustrations of Patrick Woodroffe (Judas Priest album covers), and record sleeve artists such as Roger Dean and the work of Storm Thorgerson’s Hipgnosis studio (Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of The Moon”, Led Zeppelin, and books like Douglas Adam’s “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”), Carl went to drawing school, only to find photography more his style, and in 2008, became an international hit while creating his own genre of (food) art. We’ll discuss how Carl builds his own sets out of edible ingredients, conceptualizes what foods belong in the photo, how long it all sits out, and why he lost his sense of smell.
