This week on We Dig Plants Carmen and Alice spoke with Amy Gavaris of NYRP. Amy spoke about Bette Midler's effort to restore parks and gardens throughout the city, and what NYRP is doing to help beautify the land and educate the community.

Sebas­t­ian Aguilar is the Farm Pro­gram Direc­tor and Course Instruc­tor at the Greenbank Farm Training Center. He and his wife have three chil­dren and have been man­ag­ing organic veg­etable farms for the past 14 years in New Mex­ico, Wis­con­sin, and Wash­ing­ton State. Sebastian’s pas­sions for top-quality pro­duce, healthy soils, bio­dy­nam­ics and social out­reach guide his farm­ing prac­tices. Sebas­t­ian has hosted appren­tices on his farms since 1999 and always pro­vided them a weekly class explor­ing the con­cepts behind the prac­ti­cal work. He is cur­rently on the Board of Direc­tors of the Organic Seed Alliance (OSA) and is involved in sev­eral OSA vari­ety tri­als and seed projects. Tim is a Change Agent, Cultural Creative, and Nature-based Mentor. He currently serves as co-Director of Twin Eagles Wilderness School, an organization he co-Founded with his wife, Jeannine Tidwell, in Sandpoint, Idaho in 2005 as a vehicle to support his life’s work of facilitating Deep Nature Connection Mentoring and Cultural Restoration. Tim is a certified Wilderness First Responder, a graduate of the Kamana Naturalist Training Program, and a graduate of the Vermont Wilderness School’s five-year Apprenticeship Program.
