Give your kids some Veggiecation! This week on Feeding the Future, Orianne Cosentino is joined in the studio by Lisa Suriano, the creator of Veggiecation. Veggiecation is an initiative that brings healthy eating curriculum into schools, and teaches kids of all ages the benefits of vegetables. Hear about Lisa's commitment to health, and how she was inspired by her father's career as a chef. Learn how certain techniques like 'the two bite rule' help children learn to really taste and like vegetables. How successful has the program been in New York City schools? Orianne shares one of the Veggiecation recipes, and how it fared in the Todder Test Kitchen. This program has been sponsored by Rolling Press. Thanks to SNOWMINE for today's music.

"We wanted to span all sorts of flavor profiles, because food is love... I wanted these recipes to appeal to all cultural palates." [8:05]

"Once you get kids involved in a hands-on way, it empowers them because it becomes their recipe." [20:00]

-- Lisa Suriano on Feeding the Future

This week on Growing Good, Alessandra Iavarone interviews Africa Engo. Africa made a film about her 100-pound weight loss in one year in order to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS. MTV, along with the Kaiser Family Foundation, has ranked Africa as one of the Top 40 Youth AIDS activists in the world. Tune in to hear Alessandra and Africa discuss weight loss via raw food, the childhood obesity epidemic, and parents' roles in healthy lives for their children. Listen in as Alessandra and Africa create a raw and vegan dirty cauliflower "rice" on air! And check out Africa's movie, I Love Africa. This program was sponsored by Cain Winery.

"Kids don't even remember the fruit anymore. We don't even see the fruit anymore! How about we just get a juicer and some apples and have kids chop them up and throw them in the juicer and make it a fun game?" -- Africa Engo on Growing Good

Propaganda creates reality. Foodiness exists because we continue to consider it real food. Erica is here to continue in her quest to destroy all things foodiness, and convince listeners that real food is real food - and nothing else. Tune in for an exploration into the stranglehold Hollywood and television has on our decision making when it comes to food, and find out how her appearance on Dr. Oz helped move things just so slightly in the direction of what's right. This program was sponsored by Cain Vineyard & Winery.

"You can't have art without enduring suffering." [7:30]

"The turnip growers of America aren't sponsoring shows like the "Biggest Loser" or "The Voice" - foodiness companies are." [11:30]

"Yogurt is a living thing. If you powder it - it's not yogurt anymore." [19:30]
