Find out what trends got big this year (rare meat cuts), predictions for 2K12 (sardines, marrow bones) and how the lines of small regional cuisines like Andean and Peruvian are making their way to wider audience. Later on tune in for a mini set by DJ Autobot (Flosstradamus) who also reviews music trends. This episode is sponsored by Roberta's Pizza.

This week U Look Hungry delves into the intersections between art and food with the trio of editors of the brand spankin new culture magazine White Zinfandel. Editors Jiminie Ha, Dominic Leong, and Chris Leong sit down with host Helen Hollyman to chat about White Zinf's devotion to "the visual manifestation of food and culture produced within the lives of creative individuals." Their themes range from the nostalgia of the artist culture in the 70's and 80's to TV dinners. Tune in and find out what food and architecture have in common as well as the inside scoop on what's going on in the next issue. This episode is sponsored by S. Wallace Edwards & Sons.

"[On food culture as a spectrum] It's a common denominator of experiencing everyday life, it's a necessity that everyone has to feed themselves . . but on the other side of the spectrum, food culture has kinda gone into becoming the new luxury."

Chef Michael Solomonov takes his birthright to heart. Born in Israel, raised in Pittsburg, it wasn’t until his late teens that Michael returned to his homeland and his inner cuisine spoke to him. He didn’t speak Hebrew, so he learned to bake burekas (spinach pies) innately. Eventually making way to Philly, Michael opened Zahav restaurant, his ode to modern Israeli food. Plentiful of hummus, mezzes, and kebabs, all inclusive of the “Mesibah” (Party Time), which highlights a whole roast lamb shoulder, grilled over coals, braised in pomegranate juice, and served with crispy Persian rice. Michael finally found a way to celebrate his place in the world. Thanks to our sponsor, Whole Foods.

"In Israel, you could go to the store and buy beer whenever you wanted- it really wasn't a big deal. And staying up and eating is a big deal." [9:45]

"We want the menu and experience at Zahav to be sort of living and breathing, and when you start getting absolute, it doesn't work out as well." [25:15]
